Spirit of the Great Gray wolf
Spirit of my father’s father’s father
Hear my plea.
Grant me guidance and support
Give me your stride so I might step forward
Boldly, but with stealth and purpose.
Grant me your vision that I might
Long see mine enemies as they approach
And that I might see far beyond the horizon.
Give me your ears that I might better listen,
Not only for danger, but for enjoyment
Of the sounds from our Mother, the earth.
Grant me the keenness of your smell
That I might savor all that surrounds me:
The wind, trees, wildflowers and all Nature’s bounty.
Give me your strength that I might endure
The trials and hardships that come my way
Among the many trails I must follow.
Most of all, oh Spirit, grant me your courage
That I might step boldly and safely around the pitfalls
That I must surely encounter.
And the wisdom to say Thank You
To the Great Creator
For all that beauteous bounty.
